Final Weekly Women's Volleyball Honors For 2025 Go To GSU's Martinez, Bonner, VU's Mitchell
CHICAGO --- Governors State University's Alexah Martinez (Lehigh Acres, Fla.) gained her third Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week award, while Viterbo University's Jada Mitchell (New Albin, Iowa) picked up her second and Governors State University's Trenyce Bonner (Chicago, Ill.) her first when the league office made the announcement on Tuesday.
Bonner averaged 4.38 kills and 3.25 digs per set, while attacking at a .250 clip to earn CCAC Attacker of the Week honors. The senior outside hitter also recorded a pair of double-doubles.
Bonner opened the seven-day stretch ending Nov. 9 with a 22-kill, 13-dig, .262 attacking night in a four-set victory over Olivet Nazarene University last Tuesday. That was followed by 13 kills and 13 digs in a another four-set victory on Thursday, this time against St. Ambrose University.
Martinez also authored a pair of double-doubles against the same foes in landing her third CCAC Setter of the Week award. She averaged 11.13 assists and 3.5 digs per set in the two wins.
The sophomore rang up 53 assists and 14 digs opposite Olivet Nazarene, while notching 36 assists and another 14 digs versus St. Ambrose.
Governors State closed the regular season with the perfect week to put the Jaguars' records at 11-21 overall and 10-8 against the league.
Mitchell also fueled a pair of conference wins en route to CCAC Defender of the Week honors. The senior middle blocker totaled nine blocks over a pair of matches, while also averaging 3.4 kills per set with a .459 attack percentage. The latter figure came about via no errors in 37 attack attempts with 17 kills.
Mitchell contributed 10 kills and five blocks in a straight-set win over University of St. Francis last Tuesday before collecting four blocks and seven kills on Thursday in a 3-0 win over Mount Mary University.
The No. 16-ranked V-Hawks completed their second straight CCAC perfect regular season (18-0), while improving to 24-6 overall with the two wins.
