GSU's Martinez, ONU's Monney-Hori, IUSB's Hanna Gain Week 11 Women's Volleyball Honors

CHICAGO --- Governors State University's Alexah Martinez (Lehigh Acres, Fla.) gained her second Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week award, while Olivet Nazarene University's Naomi Monney-Hori (Guatemala City, Guatemala) and Indiana University South Bend's Sydney Hanna (Granger, Ind.) each secured their first when the league office made the announcement on Tuesday.

Martinez was named the CCAC Setter of the Week for the second time after averaging 11.5 assists and 1.88 digs per set over a pair of split decisions.  The sophomore came up with 51 assists and six digs in a four-set win over Judson University last Tuesday.

Martinez added another 41 assists and nine digs in a four-set loss to University of St. Francis on Thursday.

The 1-1 week left the Titans at 8-8 in league play and 9-21 overall.

Hitting at a nearly .400 clip (.395) and averaging both 6.14 kills and 3.43 digs per set, Monney-Hori notched CCAC Attacker of the Week accolades.  The junior outside hitter put up 20 kills against just two errors in 37 chances (.486) and delivered 10 digs in a three-set win over Indiana South Bend on Saturday for her second double-double of the week.

The first one came last Tuesday when Monney-Hori, the conference leader in kills per set (3.72), produced 23 kills and 14 digs in a four-set decision over Indiana University Northwest.

The Tigers improved to 9-7 in the CCAC and 11-19 overall following the 2-0 week.

A record-setting week from Hanna led to her bringing home CCAC Defender of the Week hardware.  The senior libero set both single-match (45) and single-season records for digs (466) with her 6.18 digs-per-set average and 78 passes in 82 attempts last week over three matches.

The highlight was her 45-dig effort (9.00 avg.) in a five-set near-upset of NAIA No. 16-ranked Viterbo University last Wednesday.  That wound up being 11 more digs than her previous high-water mark.  She also provided 50 receptions in 52 attempts that night.

Hanna added 16 digs and 12 receptions in a three-set win over Calumet College of St. Joseph last Tuesday and seven digs and 16 passes in a straight-set defeat at the hands of Olivet Nazarene on Saturday.
