GSU's Bochert, TCC's Ritsema, IUSB's Lake Make The Weekly Women's Volleyball Grade

CHICAGO --- Representatives from three different schools came away with the latest round of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's volleyball weekly honors when they were announced on Tuesday.  Governors State University's Greta Bochert (Stuttgart, Germany) gained her second straight attacker award, Trinity Christian College's Makenzie Ritsema (Grand Rapids, Mich.) collected defensive accolades and Indiana University South Bend's Brynn Lake (Mishawaka, Ind.) was the top performing setter for the week ending Oct. 12.

Bochert continued to play tough on the attack with her 4.15 kills-per-set average last week.  She hit at a .189 clip, while also averaging 2.69 digs per set.

The freshman outside hitter came away with a pair of double-doubles, highlighted by her 22 kills and 17 digs in a five-set win over Trinity Christian last Tuesday.  Her other double-double (21 kills, 10 digs) came on Saturday in a five-set loss to league leader Viterbo University, where she also turned in a .245 attacking percentage.

Governors State went 1-2 on the week and is now 6-5 in the conference and 7-18 overall.

Ritsema, meanwhile, was a force at the net, totaling 17 blocks in just 13 sets for a 1.31 average.  That helped the Trolls go 2-1 on the week to improve to 8-3 against league competition and 9-12 overall.

The junior middle blocker opened with seven stuffs in the loss to Governors State.  That was followed by six blocks in a five-set win over Olivet Nazarene University on Thursday and four blocks in a sweep of Saint Xavier University on Saturday.

As for Lake, she led the Titans to a 3-0 week – all straight-set wins – with her 9.89 assist average and no less than 28 assists in any one match.  She also averaged 2.67 digs per set.

The junior's top match of the week came on Thursday when she collected 30 assists and 12 digs versus Governors State.  Two days later, she had 31 assists and six digs opposite St. Ambrose University.

Lake opened the week registering 28 assists and six digs versus Judson on Tuesday.

IUSB is now 4-6 in the league and 8-16 overall.
