ONU's Fredin Honored Again, USF's Hungate, IUNW's Lintner Also Recognized with WVB Weekly Accolades
CHICAGO --- Olivet Nazarene University's Analiese Fredin (McBain, Mich.) has repeated as the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week, while University of St. Francis' Riley Hungate (Joliet, Ill.) and Indiana University Northwest's Trinitie Lintner (Lowell, Ind.) were recognized as the league's top attacker and defender, respectively, for the first time, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Fredin had a solid all-around week to gain the recognition for the second straight time. Besides averaging 8.14 assists per set, she also produced clips of 3.29 digs and 1.86 kills per set. Her other numbers included five service aces and two assist blocks.
The junior posted double-doubles in each of her two matches played with 27 assists and 12 digs to go along with seven kills in a straight-set victory over Indiana University South Bend last Tuesday. She then contributed 30 assists, 11 digs, six kills and four aces in a four-set loss to St. Francis on Thursday.
Olivet Nazarene's 1-1 week put the Tigers at 3-4 in the conference and 4-15 overall.
Hungate guided St. Francis to a pair of league victories by averaging 3.86 kills per set and attacking at a .355 clip. She also averaged 2.14 digs per game.
The senior outside hitter registered 12 kills and 11 digs in a three-set win over Governors State University last Tuesday. That was followed by a 15-kill effort, while hitting at a strong .433 percentage in the win over Olivet Nazarene.
Winners of four straight matches, USF is now 8-9 overall and 5-2 against conference competition.
Lintner blocked her way to the defensive weekly honor. She totaled 13 blocks (nine solo) for a 1.44 average, while also supplying 14 kills and a .276 attack percentage.
The sophomore middle blocker produced an incredible 11 blocks (2.2 avg.) in a five-set loss to Saint Xavier University last Tuesday before adding two more blocks in a four-set decision over Calumet College of St. Joseph on Thursday. In the latter affair, she also collected nine kills.
After going 1-1 last week, Indiana Northwest finds itself at 5-2 in the CCAC and 8-12 overall for the season.
