ONU'S Antkoviak, VU's Wingo Continue To Gain Women's Track & Field Spotlight
CHICAGO --- Olivet Nazarene University's Hannah Antkoviak (Allegan, Mich.) and Viterbo University's Olivia Wingo (Woodruff, Wis.) continued to gain the women's indoor track & field spotlight in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference when the pair were again named as the league's top performers for the week on Wednesday. Antkoviak also secured NAIA National Track Athlete of the Week recognition.
Producing three NAIA "A" standard efforts over the weekend at the CCAC Championships, Antkoviak claimed her second conference Track Athlete of the Week award. That came just four days after she was recognized as both the Championships' Outstanding Track Performer and Most Valuable Performer. She garnered the latter award after totaling the most points (30) at this past weekend's meet.
The senior ran the 200-meter dash in 24.99 seconds, crossed the finish line in 1:29.49 in the 600-meter run and clocked in at 8.57 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to defeat no less than 12 other challengers in each of the three events, including 19 in the 200-meter race.
Wingo earned her third CCAC Field Athlete of the Week award after winning the pole vault event and finishing as the runner-up in the high jump at the CCAC Championships. The senior recorded a height of 3.80 meters (12 feet, 5.5 inches) in the pole vault and had a 1.55-meter mark (5 feet, 1 inch) in the high jump.
Those efforts also earned her CCAC Outstanding Field Performer accolades on Saturday.
Other Track Nominees: Allison Ramsey (St. Francis).
