VU's Wingo Repeats, USF's Ramsey Collects First Indoor T&F Weekly Honor
CHICAGO --- Viterbo University's Olivia Wingo (Woodruff, Wis.) claimed her second straight Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honor, while University of St. Francis' Allison Ramsey (Oak Forest, Ill.) picked up her first league Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award, the CCAC office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Wingo placed second in both the pole vault and high jump events at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Pat Healy Classic on Saturday. The junior's height of 12 feet, 4.75 inches (3.78 meters) in the pole vault hit the "A" standard and currently sits as the sixth-best showing in the NAIA this winter. A total of 18 individuals competed in the event.
Wingo followed with a height of 5 feet, 2.5 inches (1.59 meters) in the high jump to earn that runner-up distinction among 14 competitors.
Ramsey used a pair of NAIA "B" standard marks to win both the 1,000-meter and one-mile races at the St. Ambrose University Fighting Bee Invitational on Saturday. She out-performed 23 other individuals in the mile with her time of 5:06.66, which is currently the fifth-best mark in the NAIA.
In the 1,000-meter event, the senior posted a time of 3:00.60 (sixth-best in the NAIA) to pass the finish line ahead of six other challengers.
