Key Wins Land Women's Tennis Weekly Recognition For USF's Heintz
CHICAGO --- A key factor in University of St. Francis' league-opening 4-3 win against Olivet Nazarene University on Saturday, Heather Heintz (Lockport, Ill.) has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the seven-day period ending April 5. The league office made the announcement on Tuesday.
Tied at one-all after two team doubles matches, Heintz made a number of clutch volleys with teammate Anna Bintsarovskaya to win 7-6 (10-8) at the No. 1 spot and earn the first point of the match for St. Francis.
The senior then secured the overall match for USF with her deciding victory at No. 2 singles. With the two teams tied at three matches apiece, Heintz rallied from a 7-5 first-set loss to win a tight 6-4 second set before dominating the third set 6-0.
The Saints are now 2-3 overall.
Other Nominees: Erin Jacobs (Judson), Catherine Meystrik (St. Ambrose).
