Genc's Hat Trick For TCC, Fernandez's Shutouts For JU Land Pair Women's Soccer Weekly Recognition

CHICAGO --- A hat trick from Trinity Christian College's Nerea Genc (Littleton, Colo.) and a pair of shutouts by Judson University's Eva Fernandez (Madrid, Spain) have earned the pair Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week honors for the seven-day period ending Oct. 5, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.

Genc recorded her first career hat trick and totaled seven points to claim CCAC Offensive Player of the Week accord.  The three goals – including the game-winner – came last Wednesday in a 4-0 victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph.

The junior midfielder added an assist on Saturday in a 6-0 decision over Governors State University.

Trinity Christian evened out its league mark at 3-3 with the two wins last week.  Overall, the Trolls are 5-7.

Fernandez collected CCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after coming up big against league leader Saint Xavier University.  The junior goalkeeper recorded seven saves in last Wednesday's contest to preserve a scoreless tie. 

Fernandez added another six stops on Saturday in a 1-0 shutout of Indiana University Northwest to give her 13 for the week.  She now has four shutouts for the year.

The 1-0-1 week put Judson's records at 2-3-1 in the league and 3-6-1 overall.
