Santana, Polzin Land CCAC Sweep of Weekly Women's Soccer Honors For IUNW
CHICAGO --- Indiana University Northwest gained a sweep of the Week 3 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week awards courtesy of the play of Xiomara Santana (Hammond, Ind.) and Madison Polzin (Birch Run, Mich.), the league office announced on Tuesday.
Santana was named the CCAC Offensive Player of the Week after delivering a pair of game-winning goals and playing a role in three of the four RedHawk tallies during the seven-day period ending Sept. 7. The sophomore recorded the first goal in a 2-0 victory over Madonna University (Mich.) last Monday before providing a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win over University of Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday.
Polzin earned CCAC Defensive Player of the Week accord after leading IUNW to its first two shutouts of the season. The junior center back helped limit Madonna to three shots on goal and Michigan-Dearborn four.
The two wins were the first two of the season for the RedHawks, who are now 2-1-2 on the campaign.
