Third-Time Women's Basketball Weekly Honors For USF's Harris, ONU's Nell
CHICAGO --- University of St. Francis' Le'lani Harris (Oak Lawn, Ill.) and Olivet Nazarene University's Lindsey Nell (Fond du Lac, Wis.) each collected their third Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honor of the season on Tuesday morning when the league office made the announcement.
Harris garnered her third CCAC Offensive Player of the Week award by averaging 28.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game and shooting 58.8 percent from the field (20-of-34) last week.
The senior guard delivered the third 30-plus point performance of her career on Saturday when she totaled 31 points on 10-of-15 shooting (66.7 pct.) with six rebounds in a 78-69 setback to Viterbo University. She chipped in another 26 points with six more caroms in a 99-71 defeat of Holy Cross College last Wednesday.
USF's 1-1 week left the No. 21-ranked Saints at 20-3 overall and 12-3 in the league.
A two-time CCAC Offensive Player of the Week previously, Nell gained the honors on defense this time around after averaging both 4.0 steals and defensive rebounds over a pair of contests. She also scored 16.5 points per game.
In a 103-63 victory against Viterbo University last Wednesday, the sophomore guard grabbed five defensive boards (six total) and four steals, while totaling 18 points on 53.8 percent accuracy (7-of-13). She provided another four steals, three rebounds and 15 points in a 97-66 triumph versus Judson University on Saturday.
Nell leads the conference in both total steals (63) and steals per game (3.0) on the season.
Winners of eight games in a row, Olivet Nazarene holds a two-game lead in the league standings (13-1) and is 17-5 overall.
