Women's Basketball Weekly Awards Picked Up By HCC's Hanley, IUSB's Chambers

CHICAGO --- Two double-doubles from Holy Cross College's Kaiden Hanley (Macy, Ind.) and Bradie Chambers (Linton, Ind.) of Indiana University South Bend keying an upset of NAIA No. 16-ranked University of St. Francis has earned the duo Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week accolades for the seven-day period ending Jan. 12.  The league office made the announcement Tuesday.

Hanley averaged 26.0 points and 11.5 rebounds in a split decision for Holy Cross last week en route to CCAC Offensive Player of the Week accord.  She also provided three steals, two blocks and one assist.

The sophomore forward accounted for better than half of her team's scoring in a 67-54 setback to St. Ambrose University on Saturday.  In the contest, she totaled 31 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field (58.8 pct.) with another 11 points coming at the free throw line to go along with her 10 rebounds.  

Hanley started off the week with a 21-point, 13-rebound performance in a 70-65 victory over Indiana University Northwest last Wednesday.  That night, she hit 9-of-10 shots at the foul line.

Chambers used four steals, four blocks and an average of 6.5 defensive rebounds to claim CCAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition.  Her 15 points, 12 rebounds (8 defensive), three assists, three blocks and one steal were clutch in sending St. Francis to its first defeat of the season in a 69-62 win on Saturday.

The sophomore guard added another five defensive boards (seven total), three steals, two assists, one block and 18 points in a 78-72 nod over Viterbo University last Wednesday.

The honor was the third of the season for Chambers, whose team is 11-5 overall and 6-2 against CCAC competition.
