Perfect Week Leads To Softball Honors For SXU's Wroble, USF's Manning
CHICAGO ---A perfect seven-day stretch ending April 20 for both Saint Xavier University's Aubrey Wroble (Crown Point, Ind.) and University of St. Francis' Kiersten Manning (Bloomington, Ill.) have earned the pair Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference softball weekly accolades, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Manning's two wins in two starts to go along with a save resulted in her second straight and fourth CCAC Pitcher of the Week award for the 2025 campaign. She also registered 25 strikeouts in her 19 innings of work.
The senior hurler opened the week by tossing a one-hitter in a 6-2 win over St. Ambrose University last Tuesday. In that game as well as the nightcap, she struck out seven batters with the latter effort coming in just three innings.
Manning went on to strike out another eight batters in a 3-0 shutout of Trinity Christian College on Thursday. That was followed by her two-inning save in the 10-4 second-game win.
USF's perfect 4-0 week moved the Saints above the .500 mark overall (16-15) and to 11-3 in league play.
Wroble's perfect 5-for-5 day against Trinity Christian College last Tuesday propelled the sophomore infielder to CCAC Player of the Week honors for the second time this spring. She also drove in a pair of runs and stole three bases.
Wroble went 2-for-2 with both RBIs coming in the 8-0 first-game victory. She followed that up with a 3-for-3 showing in the 11-0 second-game win. In each game, she scored a pair of runs.
Saint Xavier extended its winning streak to 15 games with the doubleheader sweep. The Cougars are now 29-6 overall and 12-0 in conference action.
