SXU's Pennala, Daniels, JU's Otto Reunite For More Men's Volleyball Weekly Awards

CHICAGO --- Reuniting for the first time since Week 1, the trio of Saint Xavier University's Matt Pennala (Long Beach, Calif.) and Cameron Daniels (Omaha, Neb.) and Judson University's Jackson Otto (Crystal Lake, Ill.) were back in the spotlight on Tuesday when they were named as the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Players of the Week.

Daniels earned his fourth CCAC Setter of the Week honor this season after averaging 11.0 assists per set over his two matches played during the seven-day period ending March 1.  He also contributed six digs, three service aces and three blocks.

The junior produced 36 assists in a three-set win over Judson University in Saturday's first match before adding another 30 assists in another straight-set victory over Lourdes University (Ohio) later that day at the Judson Tri-Match.

Pennala captured his second CCAC Attacker of the Week award after averaging 4.2 kills per set and hitting at a .552 clip over the same two matches.  He also provided five aces and two blocks.

In the win over Judson, the graduate outside hitter became the program's all-time leader in kills with his seven.  Later in the day, he doubled up on that count with his 14 kills in the victory opposite Lourdes.

The No. 2-ranked Cougars used their 2-0 week to improve to 13-2 overall and 4-0 against the league.

Otto averaged just under three digs per set to register his second CCAC Defender of the Week distinction.  He finished at 2.91 with his 32 digs over 11 sets played, while also totaling 63 receptions.

The senior defensive specialist produced a pair of 14-dig efforts over the three matches played.  Those came in a three-set conference win over Calumet College of St. Joseph last Monday and a five-set loss to Lourdes on Saturday.

Judson's 1-2 mark during the week left the Eagles at 5-9 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
