SXU's Pennala, Daniels, ONU's Harvey Claim Final Weekly Men's Volleyball Honors For 2025
CHICAGO --- The final Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's volleyball weekly honors went to a trio of veteran award winners on Tuesday morning. Named the CCAC Setter of the Week for the seventh time in ten weeks was Saint Xavier University's Cameron Daniels (Omaha, Neb.), with teammate Matt Pennala (Long Beach, Calif.) picking up his fourth Attacker of the Week distinction. Also recognized was Olivet Nazarene University's Jackson Harvey (Indianapolis, Ind.) with his second Defender of the Week award.
Daniels authored a robust 12.5 assists per set in a pair of wins during the week ending April 13. He also recorded 11 digs, four blocks and a pair of service aces.
The sophomore totaled 42 assists (14.0 avg.), seven digs and four blocks in a three-set win over Indiana Institute of Technology on Friday. Three days earlier, he amassed 33 assists and four digs in a straight-set victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph.
Pennala was the benefactor of Daniels' strong setting, resulting in an average of 5.8 kills and a .518 hitting percentage over the two matches. His other numbers included 13 digs (2.2 avg.) and five blocks.
The senior outside hitter delivered a .684 attack percentage in the victory over Calumet St. Joseph last Tuesday, where he recorded 14 kills against only one error in 19 chances. He then went on to average 7.0 kills in the win over Indiana Tech on Friday.
Saint Xavier completed the regular season without a loss, going 26-0 overall and 12-0 in league play to claim the program's fifth straight CCAC title.
Harvey was tough at the net as noted by his nearly 2.0 blocks-per-set average over two matches. He finished at a 1.7 average (12 total blocks), while also producing 2.4 kills per set with a .500 hitting clip.
The senior middle hitter put up eight blocks, eight kills and a .467 attacking mark in a three-set win over St. Ambrose University last Tuesday. That was followed by a four-block, nine-kill, .538 hitting mark in a straight-set victory opposite Trinity Christian College on Thursday.
Olivet Nazarene, which enters the CCAC Tournament as the No. 2 seed, concluded the regular season at 14-12 overall and 8-4 versus CCAC competition.
