SXU's Whalen, Harris Strike Again On Men's Outdoor Track & Field Front
CHICAGO --- Saint Xavier University's Connor Whalen (Burbank, Ill.) and Sean Harris (Blue Island, Ill.) have struck again.
The pair earned their third straight Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's outdoor track & field weekly honors when they were announced on Thursday morning.
Harris claimed the track recognition with a pair of Top 3 efforts. He hit the NAIA 'B' standard in the prelims of the 110-meter hurdles (14.36 seconds) and won the event at the Siena Heights University (Mich.) Don Kleinow Invite with his time of 14.48 seconds on Friday.
The senior also placed third out of 44 runners in the 400-meter race at the Olivet Nazarene University Outdoor Open on Saturday. In that event, he clocked in with a new personal record of 49.16 seconds.
Whalen also gained a top finish en route to his fourth straight CCAC Field Athlete of the Week award. The junior secured a 'B' standard mark with his distance of 56.56 meters, which bested the field of 21 competitors at the Olivet Nazarene Open on Saturday.
