USF's Anderson, SXU's Whalen Gain First Men's Outdoor Track & Field Honors For 2026

CHICAGO --- University of St. Francis' Tyler Anderson (Plainfield, Ill.) and Saint Xavier University's Connor Whalen (Burbank, Ill.) have claimed the first set of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors for 2026, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Anderson captured the track honors after being the top NAIA finisher in the 5,000-meter event out of 283 runners covering all collegiate levels at the Washington University (Mo.) Distance Carnival on Friday.  The junior finished the race in 14:50.06.

Whalen broke his own school record in the hammer at the North Carolina State University Raleigh Relays on Thursday.  The junior hit the NAIA 'B' standard with his throw of 56.8 meters.
