Saint Xavier Sweeps Men's Outdoor Track & Field Honors For Second Time This Season

CHICAGO --- Saint Xavier University has claimed its second sweep of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's outdoor track & field weekly honors courtesy of the efforts of Isaac Sytsma (Highland, Ind.) and Ayobami Arokoyo (Schaumburg, Ill.), the league office announced on Wednesday.

Arokoyo garnered CCAC Field Athlete of the Week honors for the third time in four weeks after winning one event and placing second in another at the Marian University (Ind.) Easter Throws Open on Thursday. 

The senior won the 14-person discus with an NAIA "A" standard mark of 52.45 meters (172 feet, 1 inch).  He added his season-best throw of 16.0 meters (52-6) in the shot put to finish second among 11 competitors.

Sytsma used a season-best mark to capture CCAC Track Athlete of the Week honors.  The senior posted a time of 1:54.39 in the 800-meter race to finish third out of eight qualifiers at the Hillsdale College (Mich.) Gina Relays on Friday.
