SAU's Grandon, SXU's Foster Wrap Up Big Week With Men's Indoor T&F Honors

CHICAGO --- A big weekend turned into Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors on Wednesday for St. Ambrose University's Dylan Grandon (Urbandale, Iowa) and Saint Xavier University's Ronnie Foster (Peoria Heights, Ill.).

Grandon, who was a part of three first-place performances at the CCAC Championships on Friday and Saturday, was named as the league's Track Athlete of the Week.  The junior bested the rest of the 18-member field in the 600-meter run (1:22.50) and the 20 other runners in the 1,000-meter event (2:28.68) before joining three other Fighting Bees as part of the championship 4x400-meter relay team (3:20.02).

Those feats also earned Grandon the Outstanding Track Performer and Most Valuable Performer awards at this past weekend's Championships, the latter of which he claimed for scoring the most points (30) in the meet.

Foster also captured a pair of titles over the weekend at the CCAC Championships to secure league Field Athlete of the Week accord.  The senior was named the Outstanding Field Performer on Saturday after winning both the triple and long jump events.  The performances were both SXU record-setting distances with his 7.14-meter leap (23 feet, 5.25 inches) in the long jump marking the first time that any Cougar athlete had ever broken the seven-meter barrier.

Foster defeated 15 other competitors in the long jump and eight in the triple jump, where he registered a distance of 13.94 meters (45 feet, 9 inches).  His long-jump effort met the NAIA "B" standard mark.

The weekly honor was Foster's second of the season.

Other Track Nominees: Michael Reif (St. Francis).

Other Field Nominees: Andrew Wicker (Trinity Christian).
