SXU's Arokoyo, ONU's Olmos Collect Men's Indoor T&F Weekly Accolades
CHICAGO --- A program record for Saint Xavier University's Ayobami Arokoyo (Schaumburg, Ill.) and a pair of top two finishes for Olivet Nazarene University's David Olmos (Oak Lawn, Ill.) have earned the pair Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors for the seven-day period ending Feb. 2, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Arokoyo collected CCAC Field Athlete of the Week recognition after breaking his own SXU record with his 54-foot, 0.5-inch throw in the shot put event at the Olivet Nazarene Walter Cramer Invitational on Friday. The distance – a NAIA "B" standard – marked the first time the senior surpassed 16.0 meters in his career. It also was the top performance among 22 total participants on the day.
Olmos, meanwhile, snared CCAC Track Athlete of the Week distinction. He opened his day on Friday with a runner-up finish among 31 competitors in the 800-meter event at ONU's Cramer Invitational., crossing the tape in 1:57.05.
The senior followed that performance by teaming up with three other Tigers to win the 4x800-meter relay with a NAIA "A" standard time of 7:49.71.
