Olivet Nazarene Claims Sweep of Men's Indoor Track & Field Weekly Honors

CHICAGO ---Olivet Nazarene University gained a sweep of the second set of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors, which were announced on Wednesday afternoon.  Earning the distinction for their performances during the seven-day period ending Jan. 26 were Joseph Randolph (Wailuku, Hawaii) and Daniel DeRamus (Lansing, Ill.).

Randolph notched CCAC Track Athlete of the Week accord after winning the 200-meter dash among 53 competitors at the Aurora University Grand Prix.  The sophomore's time of 21.55 seconds on Saturday also hit the NAIA "B" standard mark.

DeRamus claimed CCAC Field Athlete of the Week recognition after placing among the top six performers in a pair of events at ONU's own Invite on Friday.  The top mark for the senior was his weight throw of 55 feet, 9.25 inches (17.0 meters), which placed him second overall among 13 individuals and first among collegiate entries.  The distance was also the ninth-best mark in school history.

DeRamus also competed in the shot put, where he placed sixth among 16 with a throw of 45 feet, 10.75 inches (13.99 meters).    

Other Track Nominees: Trenton Brown (Trinity Christian), Karam Jaber (Saint Xavier), Scott Tumilty (St. Francis).

Other Field Nominees: Ivan Emde (Trinity Christian), Ronnie Foster (Saint Xavier).
