Holy Cross Three-Peats At Men's Tennis Tournament
NOTRE DAME, Ind. --- Holy Cross College completed the three-peat on Saturday afternoon, capturing its third consecutive Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament title with its 4-0 victory over No. 2 seed Olivet Nazarene University.
The Saints (12-2) earned their first point of the match by claiming two of the three doubles matches. Perry Gregg and Luca McManus teamed up for a 6-2 win at No. 1, while Ching Wah Wai and Naithaolin Golmei produced the exact same score in the No. 2 slot.
Wah Wai added a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles to put Holy Cross up 4-0. That came shortly after Polis Koursaros provided a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6.
The hosts then wrapped up their eighth straight victory and the title with Matthew Jezyk's 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 3 singles.
Holy Cross, the league's regular-season champ, as well, now advances to the NAIA National Championships May 13-17 at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala.
