Olivet Nazarene Matches Men's Soccer Regular-Season Crown With Tourney Title

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. --- If you can't score, then you can't win.

That was the recipe for success for Olivet Nazarene University as the Tigers posted three shutouts in as many postseason contests en route to capturing the 2025 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament title.  On Wednesday night, No. 2 seed Viterbo University was the victim in a 3-0 contest.

The three goals put up by ONU were the most of any of the three contests that the Tigers played over the course of the last eight days, winning the other two matchups by 2-0 and 1-0 counts.  The hosts wasted little time, too, in taking the lead, needing just the first eight minutes to do so on an Atjon Thaqi tally.

ONU's other two goals came towards the tail end of each half.  Adrian Kang Hagman scored with just 93 seconds remaining before halftime, while Philip Joergensen added an insurance goal at 87:56.  Niels Noordhoek supplied the assists on each of the first two scores.

Thaqi's tally wound up being the only one that mattered with Cedric Kunzli in goal.  The freshman delivered his third shutout of the postseason and seventh of the fall by stopping a pair of Viterbo shots.

The V-Hawks, on the night, were limited to just five shots all told, while Olivet Nazarene managed 18.  The Tigers also held a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Olivet Nazarene, which also captured the CCAC regular-season title, extended its winning streak to 13 games in a row against league foes and 14 matches overall with the victory.  The Tigers (18-2-1) now advance to the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round next weekend at a site to be announced later this week.
