RU's Schuster, ONU's Kilian Collect Men's Soccer Weekly Awards
CHICAGO --- Roosevelt University's Oskar Schuster (Halle, Germany) and Olivet Nazarene University's Nick Kilian (Stahnsdorf, Germany) each scored two goals and provided one assist, yet came away with different honors when the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its weekly men's soccer award winners on Tuesday morning. Schuster was recognized on the offensive side of the ball, while Kilian landed the defensive award for the week ending Sept. 4.
Playing in his first collegiate game, Schuster made quite the impact. The freshman forward had a hand in on all three of Roosevelt's goals in a 3-1 victory over Cleary University (Mich.) on Saturday. Included was the game-winning tally.
The contest was the first of the season for the Lakers.
Killian managed a similar feat for Olivet Nazarene. The junior defender produced the same offensive numbers, while also being a part of the Tigers' second shutout this season in a 5-0 win opposite Iowa Wesleyan College on Friday. ONU's defense allowed just two shots on goal and seven total shots for the match.
On offense, Kilian's two scores came in as many attempts on goal.
The win boosted ONU's record to 3-1 on the campaign.
Other Offensive Nominees: Max Jasper (Olivet Nazarene), Diego Camarena (Governors State), Avione Lane (Indiana Northwest).
Other Defensive Nominees: Armin Mahmutovic (Trinity International), Guy Gutgold (Governors State), Alexandre Baranes (Cardinal Stritch), Gabe Nyenka (Holy Cross), Jose Molina (Calumet St. Joseph).
