Holy Cross' Politte Earns Final Men's Golf Weekly Honor of the Season

CHICAGO --- The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament individual medalist one week ago, Holy Cross College's Matthew Politte (St. Louis, Mo.) claimed the league's final Men's Golfer of the Week award for 2023 on Tuesday when the conference office made the announcement.

Politte shared the top spot at the ten-team tournament with Roosevelt University's Jared Tjelmeland, but captured the title after breaking the tie on the second playoff hole.

The freshman opened with an 84 in the first round on Monday morning before taking 11 strokes off his score in the afternoon to register a 73.  He produced the same one-over-par 73 on Tuesday to finish at 230. 

As a team, Holy Cross placed second, four strokes behind tournament champion Roosevelt.

A total of 44 players made the tournament field.
