ONU's Edwards, IUN's Johnson Back On Men's Basketball Awards Stand To Start 2026
CHICAGO --- Olivet Nazarene University's Eli Edwards (Kokomo, Ind.) collected his fourth Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week award, while Indiana University Northwest's Amarion Johnson (Country Club Hills, Ill.) grabbed his second defensive league honor for their performances during the seven-day period ending January 4, it was announced on Tuesday.
Edwards delivered his sixth double-double of the season by posting 26 points and 13 rebounds in the Tigers' 92-74 win over Holy Cross College on Saturday. He also missed just three shots in the contest, going 11-for-14 from the field and 4-for-4 at the foul line.
The senior forward/center's other numbers in the game included four assists, two blocked shots and one steal.
The win improved ONU's records to 10-4 overall and 6-0 against league foes.
Johnson averaged 2.0 blocks, 1.0 steals and 3.0 rebounds to earn the defensive accord. The junior center produced three of his four blocks in a 91-78 loss to University of Saint Francis (Ind.) last Tuesday. He also registered 12 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Then, on Saturday, in the RedHawks' 80-70 decision over Judson University, Johnson totaled six rebounds (five defensive), one steal, one block and 17 points.
Indiana Northwest's 1-1 week moved the team's records to 4-2 in the league and 7-8 overall.
