St. Francis Claims Sixth Straight Men's Cross Country Title
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. --- Aided by four of its top five runners placing among the Top 10 finishers, NAIA No. 24-ranked University of St. Francis claimed its sixth straight Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's cross country title on Saturday morning at Aspen Ridge Golf Course. It was also the program's tenth title in the last 11 years.
CCAC Runner of the Year Tyler Anderson paced the 100-person field with his time of 25:11.37 on the 8K course. He was joined by teammate Alberto Fernandez-Arango on the awards stand after the latter came away with CCAC Freshman of the Year honors following his 13th-place performance (26:06.69).
The Saints came away 11 points lower in the final standings than runner-up Olivet Nazarene University. St. Francis totaled 33 points to ONU's 44. Governors State University finished in third place with 68 points.
A total of nine teams made up the field.
Rounding out the list of top award winners was USF's Trevor Howard, who was named the CCAC Coach of the Year for the third straight season.
Making up the all-conference team were the following 15 individuals:
St. Francis (6): Tyler Anderson, Miguel Garcia, Scott Crabb, Jack Wright, Alberto Fernandez-Arango, Karson Shrum.
Olivet Nazarene (5): Jeremiah Lanum, Charlie Bardwell, Reese DeVriendt, Austin Rush, Toby Sneed.
Governors State (3): Samuel Rocio, Daniel Zavala, Colin O'Brien.
St. Ambrose (1): Ross Willerth.
