CCAC Cross Country Championships Set For Saturday In Iowa
BETTENDORF, Iowa --- St. Ambrose University will serve as the host for the 2024 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's & Women's Cross Country Championships, which will be run at Crow Creek Park this coming Saturday morning (Nov. 9). The women's 6K race begins at 11 am with the men's 8K race to follow at 11:45 am.
A total of eight teams per gender will make up the field for the right to go the NAIA National Championships. The winning team along with the top four individual runners that finish in the Top 15 that are not on the championship squad will gain the conference automatic berths.
The NAIA National Championships take place on Nov. 22 at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo.
University of St. Francis is favored in both races with the women's team being ranked 17th in the NAIA and the men's program sitting at No. 21. The USF women have claimed each of the last nine titles, while the men's team is seeking its sixth crown in a row and ninth in the last ten championship meets.
Olivet Nazarene University represents the biggest threat to unseat the St. Francis women's team with the Tigers two notches back in the rankings at No. 19. On the men's side, both Olivet Nazarene and Saint Xavier University will challenge USF for the title. Both are among others receiving votes in the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll.
Crow Creek Park is located at 4701 Devils Glen Road in Bettendorf.
