New RMC Baseball Coach Mike Kashirsky

Chicago, IL - Former Chicago White Sox minor leaguer Mike Kashirsky has been named the new head coach of the Robert Morris college baseball team, RMC Athletic Director Megan Smith Eggert announced on Friday, May 9, 2008. In addition to his professional and collegiate playing experience, the new Eagle headman has eight years of coaching behind him, including four seasons in the professional ranks.

Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) needed two wins over Saint Xavier University (Ill.) on Saturday to capture the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament championship. When the dirt settled on Saturday night, the Tigers had done what they needed to, sweeping the Cougars, winning 10-1 and 13-8. With the sweep, the Tigers earned the CCAC's automatic bid to the NAIA Region VII tournament.

Westville, Ind. – It took 10 innings and a game-winning hit from Zach Scipione, but the Judson University Eagles battled through and claimed a spot in the 2008 NAIA Region VII Baseball Tournament after defeating Purdue University North Central, 12-11, in the championship game of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference 3rd-6th Place Tournament. The win advances Judson to the Region VII Tournament for the first time in school history and pits the Eagles against St. Ambrose University, Iowa (31-10) May 6 at Silver Cross Field in Joliet, Ill.    
 
Judson was down 11-10 heading into the bottom of the 10th inning when it rallied to claim the win. Scipione brought home the game-winning run with a single.

Saint Xavier University (Ill.) remained the only unbeaten team after the second day of action at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference softball tournament. Saint Xavier defeated Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in the third game of the day, sending the top-seeded Tigers to the loser's bracket, where they eliminated the University of St. Francis (Ill.). St Francis was playing its third game of the day, having eliminated Robert Morris College (Ill.) and Judson University (Ill.) earlier in the day.

Olivet Nazarene University and Saint Xavier University remained as the lone two teams in the winner's bracket at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Tournament as both teams went unbeaten on the first day of the six-team, double-elimination tournament.  No. 3 seed Saint Xavier advanced with wins over Judson University (Ill.) and No. 2 seed University of St. Francis (Ill.), while No. 1 seed Olivet Nazarene defeated Robert Morris College (Ill.). Judson and Robert Morris went 1-1 on the day, while St. Francis went 0-1 and Cardinal Stritch went 0-2 and was eliminated from the tournament.
