Chicago, June 15, 2010- Enzley Mitchell IV has been named as athletic director for Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), university President John Anderson announced this week. Mitchell has 14 years of college and professional coaching and management experience, and joins IIT from Northern New Mexico College (NNMC), where he has served as athletic director and head men's basketball coach for the past two years.

Prior to joining NNMC, the native of Fort Wayne, Indiana coached at Millikin University, IUPUI, Wilberforce University, Earlham College, and the professional Swansea Basketball Club in Swansea Wales, U.K. He also has corporate experience at Comcast, Nelnet, and Keybank.

"I am pleased to welcome Enzley as IIT's new athletic director," said Anderson. "I am confident that his years of coaching and leadership experience in athletics and the corporate world will further the success and growth of IIT's athletic programs, both varsity and intramural, and advance our alumni relations activities among ex-varsity graduates."

Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Spring Arbor University, where he was a four-year varsity letterman in basketball and first team all-conference selection. He holds a master's degree in recreation and sport management from Indiana State University.

Under Mitchell's direction, NNMC formed men's and women's competitive athletic teams and successfully bid for membership in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the governing body for athletic programs at 291 colleges and universities throughout the United States and Canada. Enzley is committed to excellence in both athletic programs and academics. The grade point average of varsity athletes during his two years at NNMC exceeded the average of the student body. IIT's Scarlet Hawks currently compete in NAIA Division I baseball, cross-country, swimming/diving, soccer and volleyball.
