Triplett Named CCAC Player of the Year

The Cardinal Stritch men's basketball team is ranked ninth in the nation and claimed the 2009-10 CCAC Regular-Season Championship. Coached by the CCAC Coach of the Year Drew Diener, the Wolves were led all year by senior standout Trey Triplett. The 6-4 forward has been named the CCAC Men's Basketball Division II Player of the Year after leading Stritch to a 27-5 overall record and a perfect 12-0 record in conference play. Triplett averaged 17.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game and shot an impressive 55.9 percent from the field.

This season's CCAC Freshman of the Year is Purdue University-Calumet's Aaron Evans. The outstanding rookie was a sure choice for the award as he averaged 18.8 points per game. He had the single-season high scoring effort for the CCAC with 51 points against Purdue University-North Central. He also averaged 4.1 assists and shot 49.3 percent from the field.

10 other players join Triplett and Evans on the CCAC All-Conference First Team. Also from Cardinal Stritch are senior Kody Braddix and junior Brandon D'Amico. CCAC Tournament Champion Judson University had two players on the team in sophomores Landon Skinner and Josh Edwards. The league's leading scorer, Trinity Christian's Will Bruinsma,was also named to the squad after averaging 21.6 points per game. His teammate, sophomore Matt Buren, also received the honor. Trinity International University also had two players in juniors Ignas Verbus and Patrick Atkins. Verbus averaged 6.9 rebounds per game, while Atkins was the league leader in steals at 3.7 per game. Rounding out the All-Conference First Team is Calumet College junior Wilfredo Escobar and Purdue-North Central junior Ryan Sisson, who averaged 21.3 points per contest.

On the CCAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team is Cardinal Stritch sophomore Navjot Singh, Judson junior Jim Kuban and senior Ben Rayhorn, Trinity Christian sophomore Jamie King and junior Josh Flikkema, Purdue-Calumet junior Neal Hudson, Calumet junior Keith Dean and Purdue-North Central sophomore Jordan Delks.
