Buren scored 33 points against Cardinal Stritch last week

Trinity Christian College sophomore Matt Buren (Macomb, IL) averaged 25.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in two games last week for the Trolls. His performances have earned him CCAC Men's Basketball Division II Player of the Week for the week ending January 31.

In the first game of the week, Trinity Christian defeated Holy Cross College, 76-69, earning its third win in four games. Buren scored Trinity's final six points of the first half to give the Trolls a 39-35 lead at halftime. In the second half, Buren scored another 12 points to total 18 for the game. He grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and also had an assist and a steal. He made 7-of-14 shots from the field.

Down by 11 at halftime against No. 13 Cardinal Stritch University, Buren got the Trolls motivated in the second period as he put in 12 points in the first six minutes to put the team back in the game. Although they claimed the lead at one point in the second half, Trinity could not hold on and lost the game 79-76. Buren led the team with 33 points and 12 rebounds. He also contributed three assists, two steals and a block. He shot 13-of-17 from the field.

In the two games combined, Buren shot 64.5 percent from the field (20-31) to go along with his double-double averages. He ranks second in the CCAC shooting 58.7 percent from the field for the season. He averages 15.0 points per game which ranks 12th in the league, and averages 5.7 rebounds per game which ranks ninth.

Trinity Christian is 8-15 overall and 3-4 in the CCAC.
