Katie Hacker joined IU South Bend's 1,000 point club in the opening minutes on Saturday.

South Bend, IN- After falling just two points shy of the mark in a Tuesday home contest, IU South Bend junior Katie Hacker made quick work of joining the 1,000 point club on Saturday at St. Xavier, draining a triple from the right baseline at the 17:22 mark of the first half to give her 1,001 points for her Titan career. By reaching that mark, she becomes just the 11th member of that exclusive group at IU South Bend.

Hacker finished the contest shooting 5-of-10 from the floor, giving her 13 points for the contest and 1,011 overall, which sets her just 24 points shy of matching Stephanie Campbell's 10th place total of 1,035.

"It's a great accomplishment for Kate individually, and it says a lot about our team that one of our players is able to be so successful," said Head Coach Steve Bruce. "She's a great player, but more importantly a great person and leader, and she deserves all of the great things that she's going to accomplish in her life."

With at least ten games remaining in the 2009-2010 season, and a full senior season ahead, Hacker's sights can be set high, as she will have the opportunity to break the school's all-time scoring mark, currently held by Tiffany Crist at 1,602.
