The Trolls' national title quest came to an end in the second round of the NAIA National Championships held at Jack Allen Recreational Complex in Decatur, Alabama.  In the opening day of the round of 16 teams No. 15 Trinity was knocked out the tournament by No. 2 Lee University (Cleveland, Tennessee), the defending national champions.

A four minute stretch in the first period made the difference in the game and determined its outcome. The Trolls came out strong, both attacking the net and containing the high power offensive of the Lady Flames. Lee managed to break through the Trolls' efforts and in a short period scored three goals at the 17th, 20th, and 21st minutes. Those goals were a part of the nine shots that the Lee had in the half. Trinity took six shots, but trailed 0-3 at the half.

Trinity continued to play well in the second period and fought to get on the board. They held Lee in check until late in the game when the Lady Flames added one more unassisted goal. The Trolls tallied five more shots to their total, but could not prevent the shut-out or the loss.

For the game Trinity had a total of 11 shots and Lee had 18.

It was the second national tournament appearance in a row for the Trolls, who lost to Lee last year in the semifinal round. The team finishes their season with a 14-5-4 overall record.
