In the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round the No. 15 Trolls shut-out the Braves of Ottawa University (KS).  After a 0-0 first half, Trinity scored 18 minutes into the second period for the 1-0 win. The Trolls (14-4-4) now advance to the NAIA National Tournament in Decatur, Alabama and will play in the next round on November 30.

Ottawa had the edge in the first half as they threatened the goal more times than the Trolls. The Braves had a few good opportunities off free kicks, but each time the Trolls were able to hold them off and come up with the needed saves. When the half ended the score was still 0-0.

The Trolls picked up the intensity and their attack in the second half.  At the 62:45 mark Alyssa Lee took the ball down the field, dribbled to the goal, got an angle on the Ottawa goalkeeper and put the ball into the net.

The excitement continued to mount in the next 27 minutes with each team having scoring runs. The Trolls did a good job of keeping Ottawa from a goal at the ten minute mark when the Braves had goal attempts off two consecutive corner kicks. In the end the team's one goal was all they needed to secure the victory.

Trinity had a total of nine shots for the game and Ottawa had 17. Hannah Gonzales was in the goal for the shut-out with eight saves.

The Trolls join the field of 16 teams that will meet at the final site of the NAIA National Championships in Decatur, Alabama on November 30-December 5.  On November 30 the Trolls will face the winner of Lee University vs Mount Vernon Nazarene University at 7:00 pm.
