Olivet's Kenny MacDonough was the CCAC's top individual runner this year

The Olivet Nazarene University men's cross country team along with five other individual runners from the league's other teams will participate in the NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championships. In the women's national championship, St. Xavier University and five other individuals from other teams will run as well. The races will take place on Saturday, Nov. 21, in Vancouver, Wash.

No. 16 ranked Olivet Nazarene University, the CCAC Men's Cross Country Champion, is led by junior Kenny MacDonough who won the individual CCAC title with a time of 26:29.98 on an 8K course. In addition to the Olivet team, Michael McElyea and Sean Smith of the University of Saint Francis, Austin Warner of Trinity Christian College, Zach Gates of the Illinois Institute of Technology and Matt Rychel of Saint Xavier University will compete in the national race.

No. 24 ranked St. Xavier University, the CCAC Women's Cross Country Champion, is led by junior Amy Poull who finished in second at the CCAC meet. In addition to the St. Xavier team, CCAC individual champion Lauren Versweyveld from Olivet Nazarene University, teammate Kristen Hallatt, Rachael Dean and Kim Peek from Judson University and Stephanie Lucas from the Illinois Institute of Technology will also compete in the national race.

The event will take place at the Fort Vancouver Historical Site and hosted by the Cascade Collegiate Conference and Concordia (Ore.) University. This marks the first year for the event in Vancouver -- Kenosha, Wis., was the site for the Championships the previous two years.

The Cross Country National Championships are free and open to the public. The men's race begins at 10:30 a.m. PST, and the women's race starts at approximately 11:45 a.m. PST.Fort Vancouver Historical Site, located near Portland, Ore., is a unique, historic and challenging competition venue that boasts a successful record for hosting world class cross country championship events, including USA Men's and Women's Cross Country National Championships and World Cross Country Trials.

The men's 8K race will welcome 32 teams, including 22 conference/independent/unaffiliated champions, eight at-large bids, one conference runner-up, one host berth and 102 individual qualifiers.

Thirty-two women's teams, including 23 conference/independent/unaffiliated champions, two conference runners-up, six at-large bids, one host berth and 117 individual qualifiers, will run in the 5K race.
