LOCKPORT, Ill. --- Olivet Nazarene University and Saint Xavier University defended their titles from one year ago with impressive team victories in the 2009 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Dellwood Park.

The 16th-ranked Olivet men captured five of the first seven spots and coasted to their fourth straight team title with just 20 points, well ahead of second-place and host University of St. Francis who finished with 64 points. Olivet Nazarene junior Kenny MacDonough won the individual title with a time of 26:29.98 over the hilly, 8-kilometer course.  USF freshman Sean Smith took second place (26:49.12) and was the only runner in the top five not decked out in the Olivet Nazarene purple colors.  Tigers Drew Collette (26:55.10 and last year's champion), Kasey Ferrigan (27:07.62) and Justin Jones (27:16.45) rounded out the top five. Trinity Christian's Austin Warner (27:23.61) was sixth and Olivet's Kyle Boone (27:23.71) took seventh.

Following the second-place Saints were Illinois Tech (73), Saint Xavier (117), Robert Morris (149), Trinity Christian (165), Judson (168), Calumet (224), Cardinal Stritch (268) and Holy Cross (298).

No. 24-ranked Saint Xavier was not quite as dominant in the women's 5-kilometer race but still won its second straight title by a convincing 22-point margin over Olivet Nazarene. The Cougars put runners in second, sixth, seventh and eighth spots on their way to a total of just 36 points.

Olivet, who was led by individual champion Lauren Versweyveld (19:25.88), had three runners among the top 10 finishers (first, third and 10th). Saint Xavier's Amy Poull was second (19:32.91) and ONU's Kristen Hallatt (19:37.74) placed third. Rachael Dean of Judson finished fourth (19:40.34) and Illinois Institute of Technology's Stephanie Lucas -- last year's champion -- ran fifth (19:49.52).

Illinois Tech finished third with 73 points, with Judson a close fourth at 93. St. Francis took fifth spot with 136 points, Trinity Christian was sixth at 154, Cardinal Stritch seventh at 202 and Robert Morris eighth at 219.
