Three-time defending Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's cross country champion Olivet Nazarene University has been tabbed to make it four straight in 2009 after the Tigers received eight of the 10 possible first-place votes in a preseason vote of the league's 10 coaches.
Olivet Nazarene, which had each of its top five individuals place among the top eight runners overall in the league meet one year ago en route to the crown, received 80 votes, followed by the University of St. Francis, last year's runnerup finisher, which garnered 65 votes and two first-place votes.
Illinois Institute of Technology was one vote behind St. Francis with 64 to place third in the preseason poll. Saint Xavier University was fourth with 61 votes.
Trinity Christian College was slotted for the fifth spot after collecting 47 votes and Robert Morris University followed in sixth place with 42 votes.
The rest of the poll found Judson University with 38 votes, Calumet College-St. Joseph with 22 votes, first-time competitor Holy Cross with 17 votes and Cardinal Stritch University with 14 votes.
