Capturing no less than a share of four Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular-season championships, including three outright, and winning another three league tournament crowns, Saint Xavier University has claimed the 2008-2009 CCAC All-Sports Trophy.

The Cougars, under the leadership of Director of Athletics Bob Hallberg, earned 61.5 total points to best defending champion Olivet Nazarene University and 11 other conference schools. Olivet Nazarene totaled 54 points to place second, while Judson University (49 points) nudged out University of St. Francis (48) for third.

Saint Xavier won its regular-season titles in women's cross country, Division I women's basketball, baseball and softball with the latter being shared with Robert Morris College. The Cougars' three conference tournament championships came in women's soccer, Division I women's basketball and softball.

No other school claimed more than two regular-season titles and one conference tournament.

The CCAC All-Sports Trophy was created in 2007-2008 and is awarded to the institution that earns the most total points in the nine sports sponsored by the conference (men's & women's cross country, men's & women's soccer, volleyball, men's & women's basketball, baseball and softball) on an annual basis. Schools are awarded points based on their conference finish in each of those sports. An additional point is awarded to any school that claims a conference tournament title.

Olivet Nazarene bettered Saint Xavier by one point one year ago, 61-60, with the softball conference tournament - the final event of the conference season - being the deciding factor.

The final standings for 2008-09 follow:

Saint Xavier (61.5 points)
