Tim Walker, who recently guided the Trinity men's basketball team to a conference championship and an appearance in the NAIA National Tournament, has resigned his position to become the head men's basketball coach at Malone University in Canton, Ohio.

Walker served as head coach at Trinity for seven years, compiling an overall mark of 111-108. He coached the Trolls to two appearances in the NAIA National Tournament (2005, 2009) and a fifth-place showing in the NCCAA National Tournament in 2008. His teams captured two CCAC Tournament titles and tied for the regular-season CCAC Championship this year. With 23 wins in each of the past two campaigns, Walker's squads were the first in Trinity history to record back-to-back 20-win seasons.

Walker earned CCAC Coach of the Year honors this season and has previously been honored as the NCCAA North Central Region Coach of the Year and the IBCA Coach of the Year.

"Although we are very sad to see Coach Walker move away from Trinity, we certainly wish him the best in his new endeavor," said Jeff Raymond, athletics director. "Regardless of any successes on the court, he has had a great impact on many lives and in many ways that can't be measured in wins and losses. Our loss is certainly a positive gain for Malone."

In addition to his coaching duties, Walker has been an instructor in the physical education department at Trinity and has served the past two years as the interim chair.

"Alison and I are very thankful to the administration of Trinity Christian for the opportunity that they have given to us over the last seven years," said Walker.  "While we are excited about the future, we leave behind some great friends and some of the finest young men I have ever worked with. We will forever be indebted to the Trinity Christian College community for the love and support that they have given to our family over the last seven years."

Malone is currently a member of both the NAIA and the NCCAA, but has recently announced that the university will begin a transition to the NCAA Division II level. The Pioneer athletic program expects to be full members of the NCAA in three years.

Walker will be moving to the Canton area this summer, along with his wife Alison, daughter Emily and sons Grant and T.J.
