Trinity Christian's Steve Pellack

Trinity Christian College's Steve Pellack (Tinley Park, Ill.) batted .636 and Illinois Institute of Technology's Jesse Stepniewski (Skokie, Ill.) did not allow a hit in three relief appearances during the week ending April 19 leading to their selections as the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week.

Pellack fueled TCC's first perfect 4-0 week of the season by both hitting safely and scoring in each of the team's games and driving in six runs total. The junior first baseman had a hit in nearly each of his 11 at bats going 7-for-11 and was not shortchanged on a majority of them producing two doubles and three home runs for a 1.636 slugging percentage.

All three home runs came in a doubleheader sweep of Indiana University Northwest on April 18 with two coming in the opener. In that game alone - a 12-9 Troll victory - Pellack went 3-for-3 with the two home runs, three RBI and four runs scored. He also scored multiple runs in each of his first two games, including an 8-6 conference victory over Robert Morris College on April 15, where he coaxed three walks.

In the four games total, he recorded five walks.

The four-game winning streak is the longest this season for Trinity Christian putting the Trolls at 11-19 overall and 6-12 in the conference.

Stepniewski, a junior, was called upon three times out of the bullpen and did not allow a hit or a walk in his five innings, while striking out seven of the 15 batters he faced. Four of the K's came in the Scarlet Hawks' 5-3 decision over Trinity International University on April 18, a game which Stepniewski worked three innings and gained the victory.

IIT's 2-2 week put it at 16-20 overall and 11-10 in the league.
