The women's soccer team of Trinity Christian College has advanced to the Final Four of the NAIA National Women's Soccer Tournament, held at Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, FL. The No. 10 Trolls will face No. 3 Lee University (TN) in semifinal game on Friday, December 5, at 7:00 pm (est).

 

The Trolls advanced to the national tournament with a 4-0 opening round victory over Houghton College (NY) in an opening round game hosted by Trinity on November 22. In their first game at the Florida site Trinity posted a 1-0 victory over No. 7 California Baptist University. The Trolls took the lead n the first two minutes of the game when Allison Doyle scored. The goal was set up on a free kick from Trisha Airth that was redirected by Natalie Buikema to Doyle. That 1-0 lead held until the end of the game.

In the quarterfinal round Trinity posted a 2-1 win over William Carey University (MS). Both of the Trolls goals were scored in the first period off corner kicks. At the 15 minute mark Mindi Prins headed in a corner by Brittany Lee and then at the 38th minute Errika Comerouski finished a corner by Meagan Scartozzi with another header. The half ended at 2-0.

William Carey tightened the game when they scored seven minutes into the second period. The Trolls were able keep the Crusaders in check and take the 2-1 win.

The semifinal game preceding the Trinity vs. Lee game on Friday will be between No. Lindsey Wilson College (KY) and No. 5 Concordia University (OR). The championship game will be played on December at 6:00 pm.
