Women's Soccer - Tue, Sep. 5, 2017

CHICAGO --- Two solid performances in goal for University of St. Francis' Bethany Dombkowski (Frankfort, Ill.) and a goal by St. Ambrose University's Morgan Wahlen (Batavia, Ill.) have earned the pair Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week recognition, respectively, the league office announced Tuesday morning.

Dombkowski, a senior, authored her first shutout of the season with eight saves in a 0-0 double-overtime tie with Aquinas College (Mich.) on Friday before gaining a 3-2 decision over Cornerstone University (Mich.) on Saturday.  In the latter affair, she posted five saves with two key diving stops in the second half to keep the Saints within one goal (2-1) at the time.

USF rallied for two late goals, including one at the buzzer on a penalty kick, to gain the win and put itself at 2-0-1 on the season.

Dombkowski stopped 13 total shots over the two games in 200 minutes of action.

Wahlen, a freshman midfielder, provided one of the four goals in the Fighting Bees' 4-0 victory against Waldorf University (Iowa) on Sunday.

St. Ambrose has now outscored its opponents 6-1 to open the campaign at 2-0-1.

Other Offensive Nominees: Alejandra Alonso (St. Francis), Steffany Lara (Calumet St. Joseph).

Other Defensive Nominees: Erin Smothers (St. Ambrose), Alyssa Snodsmith (Olivet Nazarene), Jasmine Castillo (Calumet St. Joseph).
