DEERFIELD, Ill. - Former San Diego Christian College head coach Irvin Jerry, Jr. has been tabbed as the newest head coach for the Trinity International women's basketball program, announced by TIU Director of Athletics Michael Gorsline.

Jerry comes to Trinity after four seasons at San Diego Christian, where he ushered the women's basketball team to three Golden State Athletic Conference tournament appearances, and two campaigns that saw the Hawks receive votes in the NAIA Coaches' Poll.

"We're excited to have Irvin join the TIU family, and to have such a high-caliber coach come in to help the Trinity women's basketball take the next step." said Gorsline. "Irvin is a hard-working and motivated individual, who is all-in and already at work on the vision of what the program can be."

Jerry's teams have also seen success in the classroom, twice earning the NAIA Scholar Team award, with a team-average GPA over 3.20. In 2016-17, the Hawks started the season with eight straight victories, the best start in program history. First Team All-GSAC member Natalie Perales finished the year 5th in steals in NAIA Division I, while Shayleen Toehe ranked 10th in the nation in three-point shooting percentage.

As an assistant coach at San Diego Christian from 2009-12, Jerry helped lead the Hawks to their first-ever 20-win season in 2011-12, earning the team's first GSAC tournament berth in 12 years. Previously to joining the staff at SDCC, Jerry coached boys' basketball at Sweetwater HS and girls' basketball at Hilltop HS, leading each team to playoff appearances after multi-season droughts.
