JOLIET, Ill. --- In one of the tightest finishes in conference history, University of St. Francis claimed its first-ever Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Men's Track & Field Championship.  The event was held Friday and Saturday at Joliet Memorial Stadium.

Aided by a meet-high six individual crowns, St. Francis finished with 223 points with St. Ambrose University next at 199 and Olivet Nazarene University, 181.  St. Ambrose won five individual titles and one relay, while Olivet Nazarene earned four individual crowns and two relay events.

Cardinal Stritch University, which won three individual championships, was fourth at 88 points with Judson closing out the top five with 49 points.  The Eagles boasted one individual crown.

St. Ambrose's Michael Ohioze (London, England) earned CCAC Outstanding Track Performer of the Meet honors, establishing one new event record in the process.  He totaled 39 points highlighted by his two championships in the 200- and 400-meter dashes.  He set the new record in the 200 with a time of 21.28 seconds.

Ohioze was also a part of one relay championship team (4x400) and one third-place finisher (4x100) and finished sixth individually in the 100-meter dash.

Outstanding Field Performer honors went to St. Francis' Kyle Mitchell (Crest Hill, Ill.) after he placed among the top five individuals in three events, highlighted by his championship in the discus.  He was also second in the shot put and fifth in the hammer throw.

Besides Ohioze's record-setting mark, five other new records were established at the meet, including Cardinal Stritch's Jonathan Kiptum's time in the 800-meter run (1:52.84).  The other individual marks to fall were set by Jack Reemtsma of St. Ambrose (14.90 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles) and Brady Williams (Defiance, Ohio) of Olivet Nazarene (54.83 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles).

Cardinal Stritch's Daniel Garcia (Barcelona, Spain) broke his own mark in the 1,500-meter run with his new time of 3:51.11.
