JOLIET, Ill. --- Claiming eight individual event titles, Olivet Nazarene University defended its title as the team champion at the 2017 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which were hosted at Joliet Memorial Stadium on Friday and Saturday.

The Tigers totaled 264 points, just ahead of St. Ambrose University (204) and University of St. Francis (171).  St. Ambrose won two individual events and two of the three relay events, while St. Francis claimed six individual crowns and the other relay.

Rounding out the top five scoring teams were Calumet College of St. Joseph, which captured one individual title, and Trinity Christian College with 48 and 42 points, respectively.

Judson University and Saint Xavier University were the other two programs to earn individual titles.

St. Ambrose's Molly Jo Smith (Cambridge, Ill.) was named the meet's Outstanding Track Performer after she helped guide the Bees to three of their four titles.  She won both the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles and was part of the championship 4x100-meter relay team.  She also placed second in the 400-meter dash and was eighth in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes.  In all, Smith accounted for 40 of St. Ambrose's 204 points.

As for the Outstanding Field Performer of the Meet, that distinction went to St. Francis' Raven Kelly (Romeoville, Ill.), who won both the hammer throw (new record 58.06 meters) and shot put events and placed third in the discus.

A total of six new conference records were established at the Championships.  Olivet Nazarene's Kylie Bradley (Portland, Tenn.) set a pair with her javelin throw (43.05 m) and long jump (5.67 m), while teammate Alexa Beezhold (St. John, Ind.) did the same in the 800 meter run (2:13.70).

St. Francis' Isi Edeko (Bellwood, Ill.) broke her own mark in the triple jump (11.98 m) to join Kelly.  Saint Xavier's Ellie Willging (Freeport, Ill.) destroyed the old mark in the 10,000 meter run by better than 80 seconds with her time of 36:16.98.
