CHICAGO --- Three wins for Purdue University Northwest's Caroline Brown (Minooka, Ill.) and a .643 batting average from Olivet Nazarene University's Kelly Rinker (St. Charles, Ill.) have earned the pair this week's Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference spotlight.  Brown was named the CCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the seven-day period ending April 30, while Rinker was recognized as the CCAC Softball Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Brown, a senior, tossed three shutouts at the opposition last week, while limiting them to a .186 batting average with no extra-base hits among her 13 hits allowed over the 21 innings.  She closed the week firing a two-hitter at West Virginia Tech in a 1-0 win on Friday.

Brown started the week off scattering six hits in a 4-0 win over Roosevelt University on Tuesday before coming right back with a five-hitter in a 3-0 decision over Trinity Christian on Wednesday.

That helped the Pride go 6-0 on the week to improve to 28-21-1 overall for the season.

Rinker, a freshman second baseman, was hard to stop over four games, where she produced multiple hits three times and finished the week with nine hits in 14 at bats.  She also drove in three runs.

Rinker's biggest game of the week was her perfect 4-for-4 contest in Game 1 of an eventual doubleheader sweep of Indiana University South Bend on Thursday.  She also had a pair of two-hit games in another doubleheader sweep of Calumet College of St. Joseph last Tuesday.

Olivet Nazarene went 4-0 on the week to finish the regular season at 28-10.
