CHICAGO --- Dominant during both the men's soccer regular- and post-seasons, Olivet Nazarene University proved the same on the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference awards stand Friday night when the league announced its annual honor roll.

After going near-perfect during the conference regular season (11-0-1) and then sweeping through the conference tournament, the Tigers raided nearly half the all-conference first team with six of the 14 selections highlighted by CCAC Player of the Year Blake Van Bruggen (Tinley Park, Ill.).  A sophomore forward, he led the league in both points per game (2.10) and goals per contest (1.00) totaling 21 points and ten goals – both of which ranked second in the conference – in 10 league games.  Van Bruggen's two game-winning goals also ranked tied for third in the CCAC.

No other team came close to matching Olivet Nazarene's six first-team selections and seven total selections.  The next closest were Cardinal Stritch, Roosevelt and Saint Xavier, all of which totaled a combined four picks between the 14-member first and 14-member second teams.  Roosevelt and Saint Xavier each split their four selections between the two teams, while Cardinal Stritch had one first-team and three second-team honorees.

Other schools represented on the all-conference teams were St. Ambrose and Purdue Northwest with three selections each and Judson, Trinity Christian and Trinity International with one each.

Roosevelt senior forward Evan Trychta (Naperville, Ill.) closed out his career by earning a spot on the first team for the third year in a row, while Purdue Northwest junior Miguel David (Spring Valley, Calif.) was also a three-peat selection.  Saint Xavier's Farai Tsingano (Essex, United Kingdom) was the only other repeat selection.

Garnering CCAC Freshman of the Year honors was Purdue Northwest defender Grant Ugarte (Oak Lawn, Ill.).  He totaled four goals and one assist in 18 regular-season games with three of the tallies being game-winners.  He also helped lead a defense that allowed less than one goal per conference match (0.92).

CCAC Conference Coach of the Year honors were awarded to Olivet Nazarene head coach David Blahnik after he led the Tigers to the undefeated conference season, 13-3-2 regular-season mark and No. 19 national ranking.

Trinity International closed out the list of award winners by capturing its fourth straight Karl Boeck Champions of Character Team Award.
