CHICAGO --- Not even a No. 3 seed could hold Judson University back from capturing its fifth consecutive Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament title as the Eagles pulled off their second upset in three days by knocking off top-seeded Illinois Institute of Technology, 3-1, Saturday night.

Earlier in the week, Judson was one goal better than No. 2 seed Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) in a 2-1 semifinal-round decision.

On Saturday, the Eagles became the first league team to defeat Illinois Tech this year, despite playing one man short for better than half of the contest. That was because Judson senior forward Milos Bajic was hit with a red card for serious violent conduct just before the first half ended. By that time, Judson had secured a 1-0 lead on a goal by Adauto Oliveira.

Illinois Tech (14-4) failed to take advantage of having the extra man as JU pushed its lead to 2-0 on Gustavo Oliveira's goal midway through the second half.

The Scarlet Hawks made things interesting on Andrew Lichaj's goal with only ten minutes to play, but Judson thwarted the rally when Leonardo Silva authored a safety goal with just over five minutes remaining in the contest.

The win sends Judson (15-5) to the NAIA National Tournament, which begins with opening-round play on Nov. 22 at a site to be determined.

Illinois Tech, meanwhile, hopes to gain an at-large bid to the tournament after posting a 14-4 record and going 9-0 in regular-season league play.
