Trinity International University may have gotten off to a slow start, but junior right-side attacker Carly Yattaw (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) is looking to change that after her play during the week ending September 7 earned her Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week accolades.
Yattaw led the Trojans to a pair of victories in five matches to bump the team's overall record up to 3-11 on the season. In 18 games played last week, Yattaw averaged 3.78 kills and nearly one dig per contest (0.94), while also amassing nine assist blocks. Added to that was a .322 attack percentage via 68 total kills and only 13 errors in 171 chances.
After producing only seven kills in a 25-13, 25-23, 25-22 conference setback to Trinity Christian College on Sept. 2, Yattaw totaled no less than 12 kills per match in Trinity International's 2-2 split at the Saint Xavier University/Illinois Institute of Technology Crossover Tournament. Highlighting the weekend was her 20-kill effort in a 16-25, 29-27, 25-11, 25-20 victory over Goshen College (Ind.) on Sept. 5.
Yattaw closed out the week with five assist blocks in a four-set decision over Bethel College (Ind.) on Sept. 6.
