Judson University's Brett Ehrlich (Elgin, Ill.) and Trinity Christian College's Jeff Nykerk (Holland, Mich.) have earned the latest round of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly baseball honors. Ehrlich batted .615 in four games to claim player of the week recognition in the league, while Nykerk fired his first shutout to pick up pitcher of the week accolades for the week ending April 13.
Ehrlich, a junior catcher, hit safely in each of Judson's four games during the abbreviated, rain-swollen week. Twice he produced multiple-hit games, including a 4-for-4 effort in a 14-2 win over Robert Morris College in the first game of a doubleheader on April 9.
Ehrlich authored both of his doubles during the week in that contest as part of his overall 8-for-13 showing at the plate. His other numbers for the week included two runs scored, a pair of RBI and one stolen base.
Judson, a winner of 10 of its last 12 games, split its four decisions on the week – all league affairs – to put the Eagles' overall record at 11-15 and their conference mark at 8-4.
Nykerk, a sophomore, limited Trinity International University to just four hits in a 2-0 CCAC win on April 9. He struck out two batters and walked two in the seven-inning affair. It was Nykerk's first complete game of the season and moved his record to 3-2 on the season.
Trinity Christian, as a team, went 2-3 for the week giving the Trolls a mark of 7-13 in all games and a 4-6 record in conference contests.
